The "Brit a Day" series

What does a months-long parade of attractive British men have to do with fiction, you might well ask? These gentlemen have inspired some lovely scenes, part of the life I live in my head. Over time, some of these scenes reach out to one another and begin to form a story. For the present, each one of these pictures provides a writing prompt for me, a way to keep me writing with a sense of passion and narrative, even when the stories are not yet fully formed.

A Brit a Day [#787]

I would absolutely love to run into Henry Ian Cusick on the streets of LA when the cast of 'Scandal' comes back to shoot S2 this summer.  Guess I better be in LA when that happens.

A Brit a Day [#786]

I toured one of the three US Olympic training facilities [in Chula Vista, California] today with my son's fifth grade class.

No, Matt Smith was not there.  But if you consider the few degrees of separation involved, we're practically related.

Oh. Jesus. God.

There's a shakeup in the works here at A Brit a Day.  Some new stuff later in the week.

A Brit a Day [#782]

HA!  I bet you think today's brit is Tom Hiddleston...again.  WRONG!  Well, it could be, but it's not--it's Jeremy Irons [or 'Scar' to the under-thirty set].  This video is stunning.  The whole piece will be....more so.

Henry Ian Cusick just the way we love him:  Bearded, contemplative, tousled Desmond Hume in a blue shirt with the sleeves rolled up.  Sublime.

A Brit a Day [#779]

Matt Smith was on the latest episode of Top Gear in their 'Star in a Reasonably Priced Car' segment.  Spoiler Alert:  Guess who of the Whovians who have visited the show had the fastest driving time for the test track?

A Brit a Day [#777]

Good god, did you see 'Sherlock' last night?  I knew Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman [oh, Martin Freeman....] would knock it out of the park, but what about Andrew Scott [Moriarty]?  Where have you been all my life?

Apparently at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin.  Andrew Scott was born in Dublin, Ireland, but has since become a Londoner.

Tom Hiddleston/Loki, dressed to crash the party. [clicky-clicky-open this in another tab cuz this picture is real big.]

OK, so I understand about the number 13, but why aren't we afraid of mistletoe?

A Brit a Day [#773]

A blast from the past:  looking forward to the season finale of  'Scandal' tonight--and thankful that another season will follow--but we never forget HIC's past endeavors.  I've been re-watching 'Lost', Season 4, on my video-streaming Kindle recently.

A Brit a Day [#772]

How about a two-fer:  today's Brit can be American actress Holly Hunter's character, Scotswoman Ada McGrath, in the groundbreaking 1993 film, 'The Piano.'  And Wednesday's can be Anna Paquin, the Canadian-born New Zealand actress who played her daughter.  Anna was the second youngest ever winner of an Academy Award when she won Best Supporting Actress for her role in 'The Piano.'

Of the 5 shows I watch.....Part 2

Two were cancelled.  :(

1) "Alcatraz"

Sam Neill was born in Northern Ireland, which totally makes him a brit.  He didn't move to New Zealand until he was 7.

2) "Awake"

You know how much I like Jason Isaacs.  I am completely bummed.  >: (

A Brit a Day [#769]

The big TV shakedown of 2012 has taken place and--

Of the 5 shows I watch....Part 1

Three got renewed for another season--

1) "How I Met Your Mother"

Lovely brit Nazanin Boniadi [Nora] was born in Tehran, Iran. Her parents moved to London when she was an infant.

 2) "Fringe"

Henry Ian Cusick is the true brit here; John Noble is Australian, but I think that still counts.

3) "Scandal"

....of course.

A Brit a Day [#768]

Does anyone know if that is actually Tom Hiddleston in this photo?  Awww, let's just say it is.  OMG, that little fist.....

My daughter takes the notorious AP American History exam today, and my thoughts are with her.  She has told me about 8 times that we have to see 'The Avengers.'  I think a reward for her accomplishment is in order, so....'Avengers' here we come.

A Brit a Day [#767]

...And speaking of sending out a little love, have a Henry Ian Cusick avatar from my personal collection and LOVE it and hope that his show 'Scandal' gets the good vibrations it deserves and is around for another [hopefully FULL] season.

A Brit a Day [#766]

Dear Matt Smith is stepping aside today to allow us to bring you wonderful Jason Isaacs.  We're hoping if we send a lot of love his way, the right people will pick up on it and renew his show 'Awake' for another season.

A Brit a Day [#762]

Intense!Alfred

I love the fact that Alfred Molina is included in this round-up of personalities making the pitch for getting your GED.  Part of his intensity comes from the gravitas of those eyebrows--one reason why some people have seen more than a passing resemblance to Eddie Argos.  I once saw a comparison of three pictures--late-blooming Neville Longbottom [Matthew Lewis], Eddie, and Alfred Molina.  It was like three generations of a family.

Eyeliner!Eddie

This look foreshadowed Eddie Argos' return-to-glam era and the formation of the band Glamchops.  He was ripe for it:  he had been wrapping his shoes in silver duct tape for a while by then.

After watching this, I was motivated to run out and get my GED, which is totally inappropriate seeing as I have a Master's Degree.
